“My name is Margaret Szlachcinska and I was born and grew up in Poland. I graduated from University of Rzeszow (Poland) with Master’s Degree in Education and worked for several years as a teacher before emigrating to Canada. In Canada I took studio courses at Emily Carr College of Art and Design and art courses at the University of Western Ontario. I graduated from University of Western Ontario with Visual Art Specialist in Teaching. I worked as an art teacher for over a decade in Eastern Ontario and decided to take early retirement  in order to paint full time.

As long I can remember, I’ve always loved to draw, paint, playing with colors and make art. I am always experimenting with different styles and techniques.  I try to learn every day something new. My fascination with color and light is reflected in my work. I also try to convey mood and  feeling, not just to replicate a scene. I have been paining for over 30 years. My favourite medium are oils, pastels and acrylics. I love painting flowers, landscapes, pet portraits, interiors and exteriors of  interesting buildings. I like using bright colours and happy subjects. I am continually experimenting with ideas. In my art I am not trying to convey any political statements , I just want to capture the beauty of the world around me.

I hope that my paintings will bring you the same joy that I have had in creating them.”
