“As long as I can remember, I have always had an artist’s soul. From Williamstown to living across Canada, we came back home to where I now get to look upon the great St Lawrence River with my morning coffee.
From my early years in Ms Cruther’s grade 7 class, I was completely inspired and encouraged to pursue a budding love of art. Since that time, I have had the privilege of encountering many exceptional and inspiring mentors such as Allan Bain and Hye Kyung Yue, both fine artists in their own right. A few decades go, I took a series of 4 day intense seminars with teachers from the Banff School of Fine Arts in Alberta. Moving back to Ontario I continued my studies with teachers like Dian Sheridan at the St Lawrence College. This entailed studying the works of the famous Canadian Group of 7 artists. I am now enjoying time spent with the groups Focus Arts and the Glengarry Collective showing my work throughout Stormont Dundas And Glengarry. I also had the wonderful experience of a one-woman show at the Alexandria Library in June and one at the Glen Stor Dun Lodge in Cornwall. My art is also on sale at a local store “Left & Write” art and stationary store.
Although I enjoy working with mixed media, my preference remains watercolors. With my outdoor scenes, I hope to bring the viewer into my realm as I relate to the beauty of this world. All these works vary from realism to impressionism hoping to evoke memories and emotions in the viewer, all while providing me opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors.
As I read somewhere,”
“Painting calms me and exhilarates me at the same time, as does my avid curiosity for other artists’ work and their styles.”
